Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

This depends on the opportunity. Some roles are available for younger volunteers, while others are for over-16s. All roles are age-appropriate and clearly explained on the role description.

Do I need experience to volunteer?

No! You don’t need any experience to get started. Training and support will be provided, and you’ll be guided every step of the way.

How much time do I have to give?

Volunteering is flexible. You can choose how much or how little time you want to give, depending on your availability and the missions you choose.

Is volunteering safe?

Yes. Your safety and wellbeing are our priority. All volunteering opportunities follow safeguarding, health and safety, and supervision guidelines. You’ll always have a named contact for support.

Will I get training?

Yes. You’ll receive training and guidance to help you feel confident in your role. This may include an induction and role-specific training.

Do my parents or guardians need to know?

Yes. For younger volunteers, parental or guardian consent is required.

What is Volunteero and how do I use it?

Volunteero is our volunteering app. It’s where you’ll find missions, log your hours, message your coordinator, and track your achievements. You’ll get an email invite when you’re ready to start.

Will volunteering help with my CV or future plans?

Definitely! Volunteering helps you build skills, confidence, and experience that can support college, university, apprenticeships, or job applications.

What if I’m worried or something doesn’t feel right?

You can always talk to your volunteer lead contact or a trusted adult. It’s always okay to speak up!

Do I get recognised for volunteering?

Yes! You can log your hours, earn badges, and celebrate milestones to recognise the amazing work you do.
